Scholarship Awarding Timeline Main Content

September

High school seniors should apply for admission and have qualifying credentials on file with the Admissions Office.

October

Awarding begins for the SIU Academic Scholarship for Freshmen.  Incoming freshman students must be admitted prior to any scholarship offer.

November

Incoming freshman students who have been admitted to the University with qualifying credentials will be notified on how to access the Chancellor's Scholarship Application. Transfer students should apply for admission and have qualifying credentials on file with the Admissions Office.

December

The Chancellor's Scholarship Application is due on December 15.  Incoming freshmen, transfer, and continuing students should be investigating College/Departmental Scholarships. The common application period for on campus scholarships is December 1 – February 1.

January

Chancellor's Scholarship Interviews will be held on January 11 and 12 for those that qualify.  You may complete the FAFSA anytime after January 1 for the following academic year.  SIU’s Financial Aid Office will review your eligibility for campus based aid as soon as possible based on the date of paperwork submission.

February

Awarding begins for the SIU Academic Scholarship for Transfer Students. Transfer students must be admitted prior to any scholarship offer. The deadline to apply for College/Departmental Scholarships is February 1.

March

Students should contact New Student Orientation for orientation, advisement and registration information.

April

Awarding begins for the Phi Theta Kappa College Scholarships.

May

Students, who requested an extension until May 1, must notify the Academic Scholarship Office to accept the scholarship.
